On Saturday the 7th of March, Michele Engela, Director and representative of Everinghams visited en event for a project called Mama Themba whch is run by the organisation Thembalitsha. Based in the Helderberg area of the Western Cape, they serve a large district just east of Cape Town in offering mothers valuable antenatal and breastfeeding education and support. Everinghams Inc. was invited by Frances Fuchs, project manager. The idea behind the project is to celebrate the life of a newborn child no matter when, how or where the child is born. Hampers filled with goodies such as clothes, nappies and other essential toiletries are given to the new mothers at the hospital after having given birth. Mama Themba also provide free pre-natal and breastfeeding classes for preventative healthcare to empower and educate mothers to prevent infant mortality en morbidity.

At Everinghams Inc., we believe that helping to educate mothers and assist them in helping their babies thrive is the first step in the right direction when it comes to education in South Africa. Mothers who are better educated regarding their children, with some help from projects like these, are able to make informed decisions regarding their childrens' lives, and therefore their education and life choices in the future.

Everinghams Inc was delighted to be able to contribute towards the Project and help towards payments for breastfeeding counselors, buying nappies etc.

Thank you to all the people at Mama Themba for helping these mothers and children in their most vulnerable times.
